I started off this week by working with my classmates Scott Campbell and Joao Luiz Paizante Jr. to remove scrap metal from old computers and give that metal to the Metal Fabrication shop at the school. We needed to unscrew all the hardware from the cases and throw that out, saving the case and all the metal parts inside, like the CPU cooler. Once we separated the metal, trash, and wires, we brought the metal to Metal Fab and the wires to electrical so we wouldn't be wasting any resources.

After finishing that, I found out that the Metal Fab teacher, Mr. Jackson had asked for a light in his shop's sandblaster, so my classmate Anthony Cartolano and I took a trip up to see it. We agreed that it was hard to see inside with the light that it currently had, so we agreed to install another light inside. We started by removing an LED strip from its fixture and measured how well it would fit inside of the top of the sandblaster, finding a way to fit it in. We rewired the lights inside using wires from an old cable to connect the new LED strip to its light switch, and temporarily taped it in to test its brightness, which was more than satisfactory.

Finally, after ensuring with Mr. Jackson that the brightness level was okay, we drilled holes in the sides and used zip ties to hold the strip in place and brought the final product up to Metal Fab to reinstall it on top of the sand blaster. Below is Mr. Jackson's reaction to the light.
