This week I created a new materials list and draft for the final design of the jump meter. I realized that I needed to get two different PVC sizes within 1/4 of an inch of thickness of each other for them to be able to slide inside each other like I want them to. I decided on getting two 10 foot pipes, one 1" thick and one 1-1/4" thick.

This picture shows the sketch of the design, the pipe slides up and down and gets locked into place by pegs.
This week I also worked on calculating the amount of counterweight I would need to keep the meter from falling over. I used the formula found below but replaced 4 with 10 to account for the different angle. After calculating the weight of the part hanging down, I used the formula to find that the necessary counterweight was about 26 pounds.
Finally, I worked on a PCB holder to keep the PCB at the top of the pipe. The white part will hold the PCB and the bottom part will screw into the PVC.
